Sunny is a sweet, 12-pound, 2-year-old Chihuahua/Poodle mix who had a rough start in life. She came to Good Catch Dog Rescue with three little "suns" of her own—Ray, Cyrus, and Leo—after likely being abandoned on the side of the road in a crate with her babies. Despite those difficult circumstances, Sunny's resilience shone through. She proved to be a devoted mother and quickly learned what it means to be a cherished member of a loving, multi-dog family.
This clever girl has a delightfully inquisitive personality. When she isn't exploring the neighborhood or rearranging her toys into new and interesting configurations, much to the amusement of her foster family, Sunny enjoys being brushed and doted on. Her curious nature means she'll need a securely fenced yard if her new home has outdoor space, as she's always eager to investigate the world around her. She also walks beautifully on a leash, making her an excellent companion for daily strolls and outdoor adventures. Afterward, she's happiest curled up at the feet of her favorite person for a long, contented nap.
Sunny is a true velcro dog who loves being close to her people. She happily follows her humans from room to room and thrives on companionship and routine. Because of her strong bond with her family, extended periods alone can make her anxious. She is looking for a patient adopter who is home more often than not and willing to help continue building her confidence.
While Sunny isn't much of a barker, she has her own unique way of communicating. She'll let you know when she needs reassurance with adorable dolphin-like whines and requests for chest rubs. Her gentle, affectionate nature makes her an incredibly rewarding companion for someone looking for a devoted little shadow.
Sunny has done well with children and enjoys being part of family life. She would be happy as an only dog soaking up all the attention, but she would also do well with another confident, friendly canine companion. Sunny has shown little interest in cats and has peacefully coexisted around them in foster care.
Sunny is fully vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, on flea and tick prevention, and has received a 12-month ProHeart injection for heartworm prevention.
For out-of-state adopters, Sunny can travel safely with one of our trusted transport partners, Freedom Run Express or Tigger's Texas Transport. We adopt to multiple states to help each dog find the perfect forever home.
