Meet Sugar, a 4-5-year-old miniature Poodle mix we found at a local shelter, just waiting for her chance to shine!

When we first met her, this curly girl had a double cherry eye and has since undergone surgery to correct it. She healed up beautifully and is a happier girl because of it.

Sugar is a confident, independent little lady who absolutely adores her people. While she doesn't need another dog in the home, she has adjusted wonderfully to the other dogs here at Good Catch. It took her a few days to settle in, but now she's comfortable, feels safe and knows that love and treats are always close by. She has done especially well making friends with the other small dogs in our rescue and enjoys their company. (See video of Sugar and Collette above.)

Sugar weighs right around 10 pounds. While she was under anesthesia for her eye surgery, she also had a dental cleaning. Her vet reports that her heart sounds great, and her teeth are healthy and all intact.

This sweet girl loves being outdoors. One of her favorite pastimes is chasing birds as they fly overhead and exploring the yard. Sugar finds joy in having space to run and play freely, so we feel she would be happiest in a home with a securely fenced yard. She is not a sedentary dog and would not be a good fit for apartment living. Like many terrier-minded little dogs, Sugar enjoys keeping an eye on the resident barn cats and may bark at or give chase to them, though she's never shown any intent beyond the thrill of the pursuit.

Sugar would thrive in a mature household. We recommend children over 12, or no young children, as she prefers respectful interactions and isn't shy about reminding little ones that she's not a toy.

Sugar is crate-trained at night, house-trained, and walks nicely on a leash with a harness. She is up to date on all vaccinations and preventatives. Like all of our healthy dogs over one year old, she's received a ProHeart12 shot for year-long heartworm prevention. She's also on Bravecto for flea and tick prevention and is spayed.

For out-of-state adopters, Sugar can travel safely with one of our trusted transport partners, Freedom Run Express or Tigger's Texas Transport. We adopt to multiple states to ensure each dog finds their perfect match.
