Meet our Country Pupkins: Reba, George and Lainey; three shepherd mix pups born on May 2nd who were rescued from a small, overcrowded shelter in Wilson County, Texas. They spent the first 8 weeks of their lives there waiting for someone to notice their sweet faces and joyful spirits. Fortunately, they were taken in by their foster mom, Sandra, who has been helping them adjust to life outside the shelter and preparing them for their forever homes.
Reba is the largest of the three, weighing 32 pounds on September 18. She is expected to grow to around 50 pounds. Reba is a happy-go-lucky pup who loves to play with toys, splash in the doggy pool and explore her surroundings. She is working on learning “sit,” but would often rather chase bees and sniff flowers.
George weighs 30 pounds and has a steady, reliable temperament. He has already mastered “sit” and is very treat motivated. George is busy, curious and definitely not a couch potato. He is enjoying his new freedom and the chance to play on green grass.
Lainey is the smallest at 28 pounds, but she has also learned to sit in just a few days. She is very in tune with her foster mom and loves to smile for the camera. Laney enjoys toys, treats and water, and her eagerness to please makes her a wonderful companion in training.
All three will need homes with yards, as apartment living will not suit their active and curious nature. They are still young and will do best with adopters who are home often to continue their training and enrichment. A bored puppy can become frustrated and destructive, so their families will need to be ready for the time and energy these breeds require. For households with children, those over the age of five are best suited since the puppies are in their teething stage.
George, Reba and Lainey are all up to date on vaccinations and prevention, microchipped, and ready to become part of a loving family.
