Jolene is a 35 pound, 2-year-old Australian Cattle dog, also known as a Blue Heeler. Her breed is built for herding cattle. She is a classic example of the traits that come with her line of work. She is energetic, loyal, playful and stubborn. She "heels" other dogs and that can scare or offend some while others find it engaging to play. She doesn't know that small dogs don't play the same or that children don't need to be rounded up. For this reason, we're looking for an energetic, loyal and playful adopter to pair her with. Someone with teenagers or no children. She'll do well as an only dog or with a dog whose style of play is similar to her own.

Jolene was abandoned by her first owner. We saw a post on Facebook from her finder looking to place her and stepped in to get her vetted and assessed before she could be given up on once again by someone who thought she was pretty but had no idea what comes with adopting a cattle dog.

Jolene is fully vetted. She's also microchipped and has been given a 12-month Proheart shot for 1 year of heartworm prevention. She's a joy to pal around with one on one and has a youthful side that makes you smile. She'll chase leaves in the wind, and her ear is always turned to a truck pulling a trailer beyond her fenced yard. Heelers need jobs; in the rescue, Jolene's job is to keep moving until it's time for a nap. She adapted quickly to life indoors and sleeps in her crate even if the doors open. She picked up on the routine alongside our 16 other rescued dogs without incident and keeps one eye on her person at all times.

Jolene is smart, she's busy and she's highly trainable. She is not a dog who belongs in an apartment or in a home where she'll be kept indoors all day. She enjoys all the sniffs and sounds of being outside and will make the right person or family an exceptional companion. A home with property that is far off the road would be ideal or a large fenced yard if you're closer to a street as like most of her kind, she's inclined to chase cars/trailers.

We only use trusted transport partners to deliver our dogs North to their families.
