Grace and her sister Lolo were born to their momma Norah on September 1st in an overcrowded county shelter in South Texas. At just two days old, the little family came into the care of Good Catch Dog Rescue to begin their journey toward finding forever homes.
Grace was born black, but as she's grown, her coat has transformed into a beautiful silvery gray. We have no idea what color she'll be when she's all grown up, but one thing's for sure: this girl has a serious winter coat and we suspect she'll be right at home in cooler climates. She's already a substantial little puppy, and between those big paws and all that fluff, we don't expect her to stay little for very long!
Grace is observant, cautious, sassy, and loving, which makes for a pretty entertaining combination. She's the kind of puppy who likes to take in her surroundings and figure things out before jumping into the middle of the action. She's been exposed to lots of people and has recently started meeting all the dogs in her foster home, giving her opportunities to learn from the grown-ups. She pays no attention to the cats, which is something she seems to have inherited from her momma Norah, and she's currently dividing her days pretty evenly between playing and napping. It's a tough life, but somebody has to live it.
At nine weeks old, Grace weighed in at 13 pounds, 6 ounces, and she's packing on the pounds every week. She's up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, started preventatives at six weeks, and is following our puppy deworming schedule. She's growing beautifully and is ready to take the next step in her rescue journey.
We're looking for a home with older children and a securely fenced yard where Grace will have room to explore, play, and safely experience the world around her. Because she's still so young, we'd prefer an adopter who is home more often than not and understands how important these early months are. Socialization, positive experiences, consistent routines, and plenty of patience will go a long way toward helping Grace grow into a confident, well-adjusted adult dog.
As much as we love watching these puppies grow, we know that the most important part of Grace's story is still ahead of her. She's had a wonderful start with her momma and sister, but now it's time for someone to take everything she's learning and build on it. We're hoping to find a family who understands that raising a puppy is equal parts work, patience, laughter, and love, and who will enjoy watching this beautiful girl grow into whatever wonderful dog she's meant to become.
If you're ready for puppyhood in all its messy, exhausting, hilarious, and rewarding glory, Grace might be just the girl you've been waiting for.
