At approximately 70 pounds, Gloria is a big girl with an even bigger heart. Sweet, affectionate, playful, and eager to make new friends, she loves being involved in whatever is happening around her. She has done exceptionally well meeting new people and frequently checks in with her humans to make sure everyone is doing just fine. Belly rubs, back scratches, butt scratches, and a good brushing session are some of her favorite things, and after a little fun and attention, she's perfectly content to spend a warm afternoon napping indoors. Her friendly, easygoing nature extends to children as well, and she has been gentle and affectionate with the kids she has met.
For the past three weeks, Gloria has been thriving in her new foster home after being spayed and officially retiring from motherhood. She settled in with remarkable ease, taking just a few days to observe household routines, get to know her family, and meet the resident pets before making herself right at home. She quickly became friends with the resident dogs and has shown herself to be a wonderful companion.
Gloria has a moderate energy level and would love a home with a securely fenced yard where she can run, play, and stretch her long legs. Despite her size, she has excellent house manners and enjoys both playtime and relaxing with her people. Gloria prefers cooler weather and isn't a fan of the Texas heat. She would likely thrive in a more temperate or northern climate where she can comfortably enjoy outdoor adventures year-round. She enjoys car rides, loads up easily, and handles new experiences with confidence. Her foster family reports that she remains calm during loud noises, including thunderstorms.
Her gentle, submissive nature makes her very responsive to verbal guidance. Since arriving in rescue, Gloria has proven to be a well-mannered house guest. She is crate trained, potty trained, nondestructive, and sleeps soundly through the night. Based on her easy transition into home life, we believe she may have previously lived as an indoor/outdoor family dog.
Gloria currently lives with cats and has shown that she can coexist successfully with dog-friendly, confident feline companions. She does best with cats that are comfortable around dogs and won’t be intimidated by her size or curiosity. Slow introductions and proper management during the adjustment period will help ensure a smooth transition into a home with cats.
Before Gloria got the chance to focus on herself, she dedicated the first eight weeks of her rescue journey to raising her puppies. She was an attentive, loving, and nurturing mother who provided everything her litter needed to thrive—from nourishment and affection to important social skills. Thanks to her devotion, her puppies grew into healthy, well-socialized youngsters and are all on their way to their own adventures. Two of her daughters, Lana and Aster are still searching for families of their own and are also available for adoption. They turned 10 weeks on 6/3.
Now that her mothering duties are complete, it’s finally Gloria’s turn. She has already proven herself to be a devoted mom; now she’s ready to be a cherished family member. Gloria is looking for a home that will give her the love, comfort, and happily-ever-after she so richly deserves.
This fair lady is fully vetted, microchipped and has received a 12 month Pro-Heart shot for a year of heartworm prevention.
