Della and her sister Valerie were born on 4/13/25. At just five months old, they were rescued by a good Samaritan who found them abandoned and living in a culvert drain. When they first came into rescue, the pair trusted only each other.
After a week to decompress, Della moved to a new foster family with three kids and one dog; the perfect environment to help her learn trust and experience what it means to be a loved companion.
Now, a month into foster care, here’s what her foster family has to say about her growth and personality:
“Della is a sweet young pup who enjoys companionship. Whether it’s another dog or children, she bonds easily. She loves chew toys and prefers them over furniture or shoes. Della has always been gentle with people and other dogs, and she’ll give occasional soft licks to show affection. She can happily spend half the day lounging and playing in the backyard, then rest quietly inside. After her final potty break in the evening, she knows to go straight to her crate and settle down. She is crate trained, leash trained and house trained.
Della eats well and has shown no food aggression toward other dogs. She seems to prefer women and girls over men and boys, though she still shows plenty of affection to the male teens in her home.  A slow and gentle introduction is necessary with males (especially tall ones).  She’s learning how to play and wrestle with other dogs and occasionally enjoys a little tug-of-war with her humans. She’ll bark to let you know she wants to come inside but doesn’t react to random noises or squirrels. Della is awesome, sweet and would make a wonderful addition to any family.”
This black beauty is spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. Good Catch Rescue also submitted a Wisdom Panel DNA test for her sister Valerie. The results show they’re a Texas blend; primarily Great Pyrenees and Shepherd. They’re expected to grow to under 70 pounds. (See Valerie’s DNA results in the photos above.)
