On December 20th, a weary pair of young sisters found themselves dumped on a back country road in Marion, TX. Both scared, hungry and emaciated, they sought shelter at a nearby home and were taken care of by the homeowner. On December 29th, one of those sisters gave birth to 3 tiny babies. Those babies would later be known as our Bean puppies and on January 17th they were brought into Good Catch Dog Rescue at 3 weeks old alongside their momma, Lima and Auntie Charro.
Weighing less than 2 pounds each, they suffered from malnutrition and a weakened immune system. These puppies would have never made it had they been rescued a day later. The following day, the temperature dropped and instead of fighting to stay warm, they were fighting over the abundance of good food and plentiful toys. Safe with their mom, the bean puppies began their journey to wellness.
It was a scary start. All 3 were treated for a heavy load of worms and only a few days into their rescue; parvo. We fought as hard as they did to rebuild their immune systems and watched them recover slowly as day 3 turned into day 13 and then day 30. Today, the Bean puppies are thriving. Fat, fuzzy and fast; Pinto is ready for homes of his own.
We know his mom is a small heeler mix but the results from Pinto's DNA show some larger breeds with Pyrenees being the highest percentage (see above). These pups will most likely grow to be in the “medium” size range.
Pinto, the tiniest and fuzziest of the bunch, is the only male and very in tune with his human company. He'll stop whatever he's doing to pay a visit to his visitor and loves having his belly rubbed. His favorite toy is one with crinkly stuffing and he carries it around so proudly as he protects it from his bigger sisters. He is eager to please and makes wonderful eye contact when you speak to him.
Pinto is microchipped and up to date with puppy vaccines. He should continue to get vaccinated every 3 weeks until around 4 months old and won't be ready for a rabies shot until he's 12 weeks. We do not spay or neuter our puppies unless they're 6 months or older.
We are seeking a home for this fuzzy pup where someone is home more often than not while he continues to grow and develop. Puppies this young should not be left for long lengths of time as they require enrichment and engagement to grow into well-rounded dogs. He is in the teething stage, so younger children are at risk for being mistaken as a chew toy.
We only use trusted transport partners to safely deliver our puppies and dogs to their adopters.
